Kristin Cavallari's Chilling Encounter with an Intruder

Kristin Cavallari shared a harrowing experience from 2020 during her Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari podcast on December 17. The 37-year-old recounted one of her scariest moments, which still remains unknown to her children. Cavallari, who shares three kids—Camden, Jaxon, and Saylor—with ex-husband Jay Cutler, explained that the incident occurred during a family vacation in the Bahamas. Due to pandemic restrictions, they ended up staying there for a full month.

She described the evening’s events, revealing that jewelry from her Uncommon James brand lay in the open. An issue with the air conditioning required maintenance workers to come to their home. Cavallari recalled, "That night I had [my son] Cam in the bed with me. Cam and I were sleeping. I woke up to a man crawling on my bedroom floor."

She explained her initial confusion, stating, "I was so out of it because obviously I had just woken up." She confronted the intruder with disbelief. He immediately fled, causing alarm. "Oh, f---," she thought, realizing how serious the situation was. With her son Cam beside her, she instinctively suppressed her screams. "You think you would yell, but your instincts just kick in," she emphasized.

After waking her then-husband Cutler, the gravity of the event became clearer to her. "Once I woke Jay up, then I got really nervous," she recalled, describing a wave of fear that followed her initial calmness. "I started shaking; I was about to process what just happened." In that moment, she allowed her instincts to guide her.

Cavallari chose not to disclose this incident to her kids, worried that the disturbing details would affect them. "That’s just one that I think would really scare them," she shared, reflecting on the impact of trauma. Ultimately, the intruder stole all the cash in a backpack, but they managed to recover it later. It turned out that the culprit was the HVAC technician.

Describing the event as "one of the scariest things that I went through," Cavallari expressed a willingness to keep this event secret for her children’s sake. "I will not tell them, probably, until they're adults," she explained. She believes some information could unnecessarily frighten children, stating her resolve to protect them by keeping this frightening tale to herself.
