Kristin Davis Mourns the Death of Her Father, Tom Atkinson
Kristin Davis, known for her role in Sex and the City, announced on November 18 the passing of her father, Tom Atkinson, after a prolonged struggle with Parkinson’s disease. The actress shared this news via an emotional Instagram post.
"My Dad passed away recently, and the family gathered to celebrate his life following his detailed instructions," Kristin wrote, attaching heartfelt photos of her father. "It was a beautiful celebration featuring a jazz band. We discovered new aspects of his extraordinary life."
Kristin honored Tom's legacy as a notable researcher and educator. "He was born in a cabin by a river in North Carolina and later delivered speeches worldwide about psychology research," she shared. "Teaching was his calling, and he loved it deeply. He was brilliant, radiant, and endeared himself to many."
She expressed deep gratitude for her mother, Dorothy Davis, and Tom’s dedicated medical staff. "I remember the devotion my mother showed while caring for him, along with his nurses and caregivers," Kristin noted. "I’m incredibly thankful for their support during his challenging journey."
Kristin recognized the toll caregiving can take, addressing her followers. "Many of you may be caring for loved ones, and I know it demands immense love and energy," she shared. "I’m thinking of our entire family, especially my mom."
Ending her tribute, she wrote, "We love you, Dad. We are thankful for how you brightened our lives and leave us with so many cherished memories."
Kristin’s co-star from Sex and the City, Cynthia Nixon, expressed support for her friend. "Kristin, this is so beautiful," Cynthia commented. "He would be proud of how you honored him, and it means a lot to your mom. You managed so well at work during this tough time."
