Law Roach Reacts to 2025 Met Gala Theme Honoring Black Men in Fashion
Law Roach, Zendaya’s longtime stylist, recently shared his excitement about the 2025 Met Gala theme. The gala, titled "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," will pay tribute to Black men's profound influence on fashion over the years. This theme stems from Monica L. Miller’s book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, highlighting the classic styles of Black men throughout history.
Expressing his feelings about the gala's honors, Law told E! News, "I am pleasantly surprised and honored. It's great that such a significant platform is acknowledging the contributions my people have made to fashion." His thoughts reflect a deep sense of gratitude for the recognition of Black culture’s role in fashion.
Roach, aged 46, remains uncertain about attending the 2025 extravaganza but has undeniably left an indelible mark on the industry. He has curated many of Zendaya's iconic red carpet outfits. His contributions have included unique looks such as the bold wet leather ensemble from the 2021 Venice Film Festival and the standout robot suit at the London premiere of Dune: Part 2.
The special relationship with Zendaya has led Law to limit his work with other clients, which confused some followers initially. He clarified to Vogue in March, "I’m not saying I'm retiring from fashion. I love fashion and the creative process. However, I am stepping back from celebrity styling. I want to focus more on my vision."
While attending the 2025 Met Gala remains uncertain for him, Law knows this space well. For the 2024 event, he styled Zendaya perfectly, reflecting the "Garden of Time" theme.
She wore a John Galliano-inspired magnificent gown by Maison Margiela, complete with hummingbird and poison ivy accents. The look was elevated with a striking veiled fascinator and bold maroon eye makeup, further enhancing her presence at this prestigious fashion event.
