Liam Payne's Girlfriend Kate Cassidy Shares Heartfelt Grief on TV
Kate Cassidy expressed her profound sorrow over the passing of Liam Payne during an emotional interview on March 5, 2025. This marked her first television appearance since Payne's tragic death in October 2024, PEOPLE reported.
Cassidy, who is 25 years old, opened up about her struggles to accept his absence. "I'm still working on accepting the fact that he's not here anymore," she shared with tears in her eyes. The segment aired on the U.K. morning show "Lorraine," where she spoke candidly about her healing process.
"I find myself talking about him so much in the present tense," Cassidy revealed. "I don’t even feel the need to correct myself because that’s part of my healing journey." She emphasized holding onto his memory and the difficulty of shifting to the past tense. "When I do refer to him in the past tense, it almost stings that little bit more," she added, showcasing her emotional struggle.
In her discussion, Cassidy candidly admitted, "Sometimes it's hard for me to get out of bed in the morning." She described having "better days and harder days" while navigating this grief. Losing someone close was foreign to her, making this experience uniquely challenging. "I am trying to do my best... But I'm surrounded by such a great support system," she said, finding solace in those who care for her.
Liam Payne tragically passed at age 31 after an accident in Buenos Aires on October 16, 2024.
During her appearance on "Lorraine," Cassidy mentioned a significant source of comfort: her dog, Nala. She noted that Nala has been a vital part of her healing journey, encouraging her to venture outdoors. "Whether it's a five-minute walk or a 20-minute walk, it really helps my mindset and my mental health," Cassidy shared, explaining the importance of movement in her daily routine.
Cassidy also spoke about her efforts to remain productive, engaging in activities like yoga. She extended gratitude to her friends and family for their unwavering support. "I’ll always have so much love for him," she emphasized, recalling how Payne's comforting presence profoundly influenced her life.
In a previous interview with "The Sun," Cassidy related her feelings about returning home to Florida and reflected on wishing she had remained with him in Argentina.
