Lizzo Steps Away from Veganism in Weight Loss Journey
Lizzo recently chose to move away from her vegan lifestyle, which she adopted in 2020. Her newfound love for Japanese cuisine played a major role in this decision. The Grammy-winning artist discussed how her meat consumption has influenced her weight loss goals.
For Lizzo, giving up veganism contributes positively to her health.
Lizzo started her vegan journey in 2020 but recently began reintroducing animal proteins. This change stemmed from her appreciation for Japanese food. "It has some of my favorite foods," the 36-year-old revealed in an Oct. 10 TikTok. Her experiences in Japan highlighted the quality of their cuisine. She particularly enjoyed fresh sushi and fluffy egg dishes, noting how great her body felt the next day.
By tuning into her body's needs, Lizzo found significant health benefits. "After tests and research," she explained, "I discovered that animal proteins boost my energy, support weight loss, and enhance my mental clarity."
Current Menu Choices
So, what does Lizzo eat nowadays? She proudly displayed new meat dishes in her video, such as egg white cups, buffalo chicken lettuce wraps, and grilled chicken.
Despite integrating animal products back into her diet, Lizzo still values the vegan lifestyle. She remains a strong advocate for eating raw, whole, plant-based foods. "I believe the vegan diet is still the healthiest option," she stated with conviction. "I aspire to one day embrace a raw alkaline vegan diet. For now, this diet helps me reach my goals and feel at my best."
Acknowledging the Controversy
Lizzo addressed the sensitive nature of her dietary shift, recognizing that some might disagree with her reintroduction of meat. "I’d rather be honest and express my journey authentically," she said.
"People choose veganism for various reasons: health, environmentalism, or ethical concerns," she noted. "Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, or fully carnivorous, I won’t pass judgment. It’s essential to follow what feels right for you."
In a classic Lizzo spirit, she emphasized what truly matters in life. "All that counts is your happiness," she concluded. "If you are happy, then I’m happy too."
