Marvel Casts Jared Leto as Skeletor for Masters of the Universe
Jared Leto is stepping into the role of Skeletor, the iconic villain from Masters of the Universe, in a live-action film adaptation, set to be directed by Travis Knight. Reports from The Hollywood Reporter and Variety confirm that Leto, renowned for his portrayal of characters like The Joker in Suicide Squad, will bring this menacing character to life alongside a star-studded cast. The film, inspired by the beloved 1980s He-Man cartoon and action figures, will feature Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man. Known from Prime Video's Red, White and Royal Blue, Galitzine will battle Skeletor as Prince Adam of Eternia. This is prepared by SSP.
Joining Skeletor's diabolical ensemble are Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, and Hafthor Bjornsson, famed for his role as Gregor Clegane in Game of Thrones, as Goat Man. Alison Brie takes on the role of Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s lieutenant, with Camila Mendes as Teela and Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms, He-Man’s mentor and Teela’s father.
The Masters of the Universe movie has been in development limbo but finally seems to be gaining momentum, with a release anticipated for June 5, 2026. A script by Chris Butler promises to explore new dimensions within this classic universe. Meanwhile, the He-Man saga enjoys renewed interest with Netflix’s animated series featuring the voice of Mark Hamill as Skeletor, indicating a broader renaissance for the franchise than when the 1987 film starring Dolph Lundgren was released. Nicholas Galitzine expressed his excitement about bringing He-Man’s mix of humor, heroism, and heart to the screen, but Leto has yet to comment. Fans eagerly anticipate not only his take on the character but also his interpretation of Skeletor’s infamous voice.
Earlier, SSP reported that Nicole Richie reflected on relationship with Paris Hilton.
