Matty Healy Responds to Rumors About a Song on Taylor Swift
Is Matty Healy planning to discuss his past relationship with Taylor Swift in new music?
On January 19, Healy shared an intriguing response to a report from The Sun suggesting a song about his brief romance with Swift could appear on The 1975's upcoming album. The report claims that Healy has recorded lyrics that say, "Keep your head up, princess, your tiara is falling." The source cited by the U.K. newspaper believes these lyrics reference Swift, who is currently 35 years old. However, Us Weekly has not independently verified this claim.
Healy, also 35, engaged with fans on the 1975 Reddit page, remarking, "Huge if true." While this statement is noncommittal, fans quickly noted that these lyrics are similar to an Instagram caption he posted in February 2021. He wrote, "Keep your head up princess, your tiara is falling 💫🌸👑" alongside photos of himself in a recording studio wearing a balaclava.
Healy and Swift were first linked romantically in 2014 and briefly dated in 2023, after Swift split from British actor Joe Alwyn in April. In January of that year, she surprised fans at a 1975 concert at The O2 in London, joining the band for an acoustic rendition of her song, "Anti-Hero." In May 2023, Healy joined Swift onstage during her Eras Tour, performing with opening act Phoebe Bridgers.
Additionally, Healy has stated that he "worked a bit" on Swift's tenth studio album, *Midnights*, but noted that "version of it never came out." He called her "amazing" and attributed the decision to various reasons in an interview with Audacy.
By June 2023, sources informed Us Weekly that Swift and Healy had ended their relationship after two months. An insider shared, "Taylor and Matt are no longer romantically involved. They had fun together, but it was never serious."
The following year, rumors arose regarding Swift's 11th studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department," released in April 2024, which some speculated included songs referencing Healy. An insider disclosed that Healy "couldn’t be happier" with the album’s outcome.
"Matty still holds Taylor in high regard, but we were all anxious about what she might say in the album," the source added, mentioning that his family was relieved by his portrayal. "Matty has faced challenges in the public eye, and while he's managing well, the last thing he wants is for all Swifties to view him as a villain."
Currently, Healy is engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel, while Swift is now dating NFL star Travis Kelce.
