Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet Expecting First Child Together
Max Verstappen, the 27-year-old reigning Formula 1 world champion, and his girlfriend Kelly Piquet, 35, are excitedly expecting their first child together, PEOPLE reported. The news surfaced through an Instagram post shared on December 6, which the couple labeled "our little miracle." A photo captured the special moment with them both placing hands on Piquet's baby bump. They announced, "Mini Verstappen-Piquet on the way ❤️."
This will be Piquet's second child, as she has a 5-year-old daughter named Penelope. This child comes from her previous relationship with Russian F1 driver, Daniil Kvyat. Kelly and Kvyat ended their relationship in 2019. Piquet and Verstappen began their romance in 2020 and publicly shared their relationship on New Year’s Day 2021 with a charming photograph on a Brazilian beach.
Max Verstappen is currently racing for Red Bull under the Dutch flag. He has been immensely successful, winning four consecutive World Drivers' Championships from 2021 to 2024 and boasting a total of 63 Grand Prix victories over the last decade. He is set to participate in his 10th F1 race of the year at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this Saturday, marking the end of the racing season.
The couple's relationship has grown over the years, and while Verstappen maintains a privacy preference, Kelly frequently shares personal moments about their life. She often expresses her pride regarding his accomplishments, calling him "the love of my life."
On social media, Kelly took a moment to express gratitude for the overwhelming support received from friends and followers following the pregnancy announcement. In her Instagram Stories, she reflected on the emotions that announcements like theirs can evoke, especially for those wishing for childbearing. She expressed sympathy for those facing challenges in their journeys, sending messages of love and encouragement.
