Meghan Markle and Billie Eilish Collaborate to Assist Teenager Affected by L.A. Wildfire
Meghan Markle and Billie Eilish recently collaborated to create a heartfelt moment for a teen impacted by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.
In an Instagram post on February 4, Meghan shared the news while walking through her home. "I was just told that something arrived that I have been waiting for," she expressed in a selfie video. Upon entering a room, she sighed in relief as she discovered a box filled with merchandise.
Meghan explained her connection to the firefighter, noting, "About two or three weeks ago," she and Prince Harry visited Altadena, California. While there, they encountered a community that endured devastating losses from the Eaton Fire, one of the several wildfires that struck the area in early January.
During her visit, Meghan met a mother and her 15-year-old daughter assessing their damaged home. "This mom had found a couple of things, [and] as I was talking to her, I turned around and I saw this young woman," she shared, pointing out the teen.
The girl had been searching for a T-shirt from a Billie Eilish concert, which she left behind during their hurried evacuation. Unfortunately, the family's home, including the washing machine and dryer, was reduced to ash.
Though Meghan did not know Billie Eilish personally, she thought of reaching out to those in her network who might. "I said, ‘I don’t know Billie Eilish. But I’m going to figure out how to get you this shirt,’" she recounted. Meghan later sent a voice note asking for assistance to locate Billie Eilish.
Wearing a chic sweatshirt with her children's names embroidered on it, Meghan unveiled what Billie had sent. "You guys, I don’t even know what all this stuff means, but it’s signed for her," she said, displaying various merchandise designs.
During her presentation of a blue lunchbox adorned with a gold star, she joked, "Is that a thing?" Expressing her gratitude, Meghan remarked, "A huge thank you [to] Billie Eilish. This is going to mean so much to her." She also recognized Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo for their invaluable help.
Meghan thanked everyone for their support in overcoming the challenges faced by those impacted by the wildfires. In her post's caption, she emphasized: "Let’s keep supporting those affected by the California wildfires" and commended first responders as the community's true heroes.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have engaged deeply with their community. They visited Pasadena on January 10 to distribute supplies to those affected by the Eaton Fire. Also, they opened their Montecito home to evacuees and are actively aiding through their Archewell Foundation.
On January 13, Meghan made a discreet visit to the Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery group, initiated by 14-year-old Avery Colvert. This group focuses on collecting necessities for affected teen girls. Meghan and Harry have lent their support through Archewell.
As the wildfires continued, Meghan postponed the launch of her Netflix series *With Love, Meghan*, originally set for January 15, now rescheduled for March 4. "I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me," Meghan stated, as they prioritize aiding those in her home state.
