Meghan Markle and Nelly Furtado Strike a Pose with Prince Harry’s Photobomb
On February 8, Meghan Markle and Nelly Furtado created a fun memory at the Invictus Games. Furtado shared a lively video on her Instagram, showcasing the Duchess of Sussex at the Opening Ceremony for Vancouver Whistler 2025. Both women seemed pleasantly surprised when Prince Harry photobombed their selfie!
In the video, Furtado, 46, wrote, "They’re beautiful, that’s for sure 💞 @meghan @weareinvictusgames." While capturing playful faces, they both laughed when Prince Harry, 40, walked behind them sporting a serious expression. The playful atmosphere continued as they blew kisses and waved goodbye to the camera.
Furtado performed "I'm Like a Bird" during the event, providing a joyful soundtrack to the clip. She appeared first on stage at the Opening Ceremony, which took place on February 8. The performance featured the breakdance crew ILL-Abilities, comprised of differently-abled dancers. Furtado also had a wonderful duet with Mattmac, a blind music producer and artist.
A few hours after the ceremony, Furtado reflected on her experience, stating, "Having a wonderful time at #InvictusGames with these gems." She tagged the Duchess's new Instagram account as well as the official profile for the Invictus Games.
The festive atmosphere at BC Place in Vancouver included other notable performers such as Chris Martin, Noah Kahan, and Katy Perry. This seventh installment of the Invictus Games was founded by Prince Harry in 2014. It serves as a means for healing for wounded, injured, or sick service personnel.
The competition is scheduled to run from February 8 to February 16 in Vancouver and Whistler. Towards the end of the ceremony, Prince Harry delivered a powerful message about the spirit of perseverance.
He stated, "Over the past decade, I've lost count of the times that we've heard you tell us that the Invictus Games 'saved you.' Respectfully, I disagree. Invictus didn't save you. You saved yourself." The message emphasized personal triumph and resilience.
Prince Harry continued, stating that it was the participants who overcame obstacles, ultimately revealing their character through the Games. He praised their strength and praised them for their persistence, highlighting the unique magic of the Invictus Games.
