Meghan Markle Explains Decision About "With Love, Meghan" Filming Location
Meghan Markle shared insights for not filming her new Netflix series inside her actual Montecito home. In an interview with People published on March 5, she expressed her desire to protect her "safe haven."
"I wanted to protect that safe haven," explained Meghan, 43. She added, "We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments—putting Lili down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day." Meghan mentioned the logistical challenges of filming with a crew of over 80 people, saying, "Our kitchen is where Mama just cooks for the family."
Meghan and Prince Harry, 40, moved into their coastal home in 2020 after leaving royal duties in the UK. They are parents to Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. The series, "With Love, Meghan," produced by their Archewell Productions, features cooking, gardening, and various endeavors with Meghan's celebrity friends. It includes appearances by Mindy Kaling, Alice Waters, and Abigail Spencer. Meghan filmed indoor scenes at a rental home while utilizing her garden, orchard, and chicken coop for outdoor shots.
The show premiered on March 4, coinciding with the launch of Meghan's lifestyle brand, As Ever. Meghan delighted in sharing moments with her children during filming. "Archie did the [filming clapboard]! Sweet moments," she said. She noted that her husband, Prince Harry, and the children visited the set. "I loved that my children were able to watch me working," Meghan explained, emphasizing the importance of balancing work and family.
In a segment on The Drew Barrymore Show, airing March 6, Meghan reflected on her family life. Barrymore asked, "What's your favorite thing that you see in your kids that you go, ‘Oh, that’s their dad?’"
Meghan replied, "Oh, some of the words that they still say with a British accent." She found it adorable that her children occasionally use British pronunciations. Meghan explained, "They have very American accents, but they say words that are just like him."
Meghan also highlighted her commitment to bedtime routines, particularly while traveling. She emphasized the importance of storytelling: "I’ll always pack a really thin book and videotape myself reading it." This allows relatives, including their father, to read the bedtime story to the children while she's away.
Meghan concluded with a heartfelt message about mutual support. "You find ways to show up for each other," she shared. "If that’s the one thing that I can convey through the show or through As Ever, I want people to know you can show up for each other because you know how good it feels when someone shows up for you."
Earlier, SSP wrote that Meghan Markle unveiled the "As Ever" product, which was rooted in her English experience.
