MSNBC Anchor Andrea Mitchell Leaves Her Show
MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell is set to leave her position after more than 16 years. Her show, "Andrea Mitchell Reports," will conclude its run on February 7, as told by various reports.
At 78 years old, Mitchell first announced her decision to end the show last October. She indicated her intention to step down after the presidential inauguration in January. However, she will remain with NBC News as the Chief Washington Correspondent and Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent.
"I am first and foremost a reporter and a storyteller," Mitchell stated during her announcement. "After 16 years in the anchor chair every day, I want time to do more of what I love the most."
Mitchell assured fans that she would continue working at NBC. Her commitment includes covering primaries, elections, and breaking news worldwide. She aims to inform viewers about significant newsmakers shaping the nation and the globe, though not on a daily show schedule.
Post-inauguration, Mitchell anticipates sharing future plans and her reporting through various platforms across NBC News and MSNBC.
News of her show’s conclusion coincided with fellow NBC News anchor Chuck Todd's announcement that he would leave the network after nearly 20 years. In a January 31 memo, the 52-year-old Todd mentioned, "Today is my last day at NBC." He expressed excitement for new projects that are nearing reality.
Todd will also take his podcast, the ChuckToddcast, with him. "Thank you, NBC," he wrote. More announcements regarding his future work are expected soon. Todd emphasized his dedication to political reporting using data and history as essential tools for understanding the landscape.
