Nick Cannon Opens Up About Narcissistic Personality Disorder Diagnosis
Nick Cannon has opened up about his path to mental health awareness, revealing his diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder. During an event at the Los Angeles Mission's Thanksgiving, the 44-year-old Masked Singer host shared that understanding his condition is part of a broader journey of self-discovery. Already knowing he was neurodivergent due to his ADHD and childhood dyslexia, this recent diagnosis was another piece in his self-awareness puzzle. This is prepared by SSP.
Cannon admits while he doesn’t fully grasp the disorder yet, getting tested always interested him. Emphasizing the importance of mental health and therapy, he described embracing his diagnosis as a means of personal growth and a beacon for others facing similar mental health challenges. He stated, "To embrace it and say, 'Look, I'm healing. I need help. Show me,' makes me stronger – it helps me heal and inspires others."
Discussing on his Counsel Culture podcast, Cannon acknowledged his connection to the markers of NPD, actively choosing to educate himself and redefine the term's power—moving it from a label of burden to one of transformation.
In balancing his mental health journey, Cannon is also a dedicated father of 12 children. His holiday plans include visiting multiple homes to enjoy family recipes and activities like traveling to winter destinations his children love. By staying open about mental health and embracing his parental role, Cannon strives to maintain equilibrium in a complex life driven by growth and resilience.
