Nicole Richie Reflects on Relationship with Paris Hilton: 'Not the Best Moments'

Nicole Richie highlights a unique bond with Paris Hilton, emphasizing a deep sisterhood over a typical friendship. She speaks to PEOPLE about their enduring connection, stating, "Paris and I have more of a sisterhood than I would say a standard friendship." This connection has grown since their childhood days in Los Angeles.

Richie notes they have shared numerous experiences, both monumental and challenging. Their reality series, "The Simple Life,"  premiered in 2003, depicting their lives for five seasons. This period also included a public rift during their 20s, as their friendship faced pressures. Richie remarks, "I think anytime you are separated from your loved ones, it's not the best moment."

Their friendship is profound, with Hilton expressing, "I just feel so lucky to have a lifelong friendship like we have — a friendship that's longer than most marriages." She reflects on their growth together, stating how it has forged them into resilient women.

As they film new content in "Paris & Nicole: The Encore," Richie shares the excitement of rekindling their collaboration. She mentions their experiences in high school and beyond, stating, "When you have a friendship that has lasted this long, you see each other through all stages of life."

Their latest project, which aired on December 12, showcases their infamous tune "Sanasa" in an operatic twist. Richie recalls the joy of working with Hilton, saying, "I was just so excited to be able to shoot with Paris." She emphasizes the joy and laughter they share, making the experience memorable.

Hilton praises their original series for its lasting impact. She acknowledges its happiness, which has spanned generations, and its role as an inspiration for many other shows. "It's brought so much happiness to so many different generations and really stood the test of time," she asserts.
