Patrick Mahomes Fined $14K for Insulting Gesture During Recent Game
Patrick Mahomes has received a $14,069 fine from the NFL for a "violent gesture" made during the Kansas City Chiefs' 30-21 loss against the Buffalo Bills. According to NBC Sports, Mahomes, during the final quarter, gestured as if firing guns following a touchdown pass to Noah Gray. This action was deemed unsportsmanlike by the NFL. In an earlier incident in December 2023, Mahomes incurred a $50,000 fine over an altercation with an official. This is prepared by SSP.
Similarly, Chiefs' coach Andy Reid also faced a penalty, being fined $100,000 for criticizing officials publicly during the same game. Prior to this confrontation with Buffalo, Mahomes led the Chiefs in an unbeaten streak—his first defeat from the Christmas Day clash with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Commenting on the loss, Mahomes stated their performance wasn't optimal but hoped the setback could fuel improvement. He acknowledged the Bills’ excellence, noting the necessity for their peak game to prevail against formidable opponents like Buffalo. "The NFL challenges us, and today, we weren't at our best, but Buffalo was," Mahomes emphasized.
This Sunday, the Chiefs are scheduled for a match against the Panthers in Carolina, kicking off at 1 p.m. ET.
