Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Support LA Wildfire Victims
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry actively assisted individuals impacted by the wildfires in Los Angeles. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, California, on January 10. They volunteered to distribute food and supplies to those affected by the Eaton Fire, US Weekly reported.
Through their visit, the couple listened to distressing accounts from victims and observed resilient community spirit. They engaged personally with elderly residents and families in need at the Pasadena Convention Center.
In addition to serving meals alongside World Central Kitchen (WCK) volunteers, Harry and Meghan donated clothing, children’s items, and essential supplies. Monetary contributions for relief and recovery efforts have also been made through their nonprofit organization, the Archewell Foundation.
Their efforts included expressing gratitude to first responders. Joined by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, California’s First Partner, and Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, they thanked Fire Chief Marrone and his LA County Fire Department team, along with CalFire and the Pasadena Police Force, during their visit to the Rose Bowl.
They also met with WCK founder José Andrés at various food distribution sites, appreciating the teams' dedication to supporting the community in hardship.
This week, Meghan and Harry opened their Montecito home to friends who were evacuated due to the wildfires. These fires affected several regions, including Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Santa Monica, and the Hollywood Hills.
Living in Montecito with their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, the couple’s residence is about 80 miles from the initial blaze location.
Many high-profile individuals have been affected by the wildfires, prompting thousands to evacuate their homes. Celebrities like Mandy Moore, Paris Hilton, Spencer Pratt, and Milo Ventimiglia experienced losses in these destructive fires.
To assist with relief efforts, Harry and Meghan created a dedicated page on their official website. It shares valuable information about resources and organizations involved in addressing the crisis.
Having moved to California from the UK in 2020, Meghan and Harry initially resided on Vancouver Island, Canada, before spending time at Tyler Perry’s property. Following these experiences, they settled into their own home in California.
