Prince Harry Shares "Difficult" Conversations with Children About Invictus Games
Prince Harry recently shared insights about challenging discussions he's having with his children, Archie and Lilibet. He focuses on explaining his Invictus Games organization, which supports wounded and sick service members by offering them a chance to compete in sports.
Harry emphasized the significance of these talks. He stated, "They are fascinated," referring to his kids’ interest in understanding the competitors. "It’s a very interesting conversation to have," Harry explained, addressing challenging questions like why some individuals are missing limbs. According to him, these discussions are crucial despite their difficulty.
At five years old, Archie shows particular curiosity. Harry mentioned that Archie asks questions like, "How did they get injured? What’s a mine?" These questions open a broader conversation, which can be challenging, especially with young kids who are naturally inquisitive.
While his children are often full of questions, Harry understands he may not have all the answers. "I’m constantly trying to make sure that I get it right," he remarked, as he navigates explaining the complexities of the Invictus Games to them. He aims to help them grasp how the organization helps competitors improve their lives.
Harry founded the Invictus Games over a decade ago out of a commitment to inspire military personnel in recovery. He hopes his children will also be inspired by the event. He recalled how fascinated they were during the 2023 Games in Düsseldorf, watching athletes compete in wheelchair sports. "I’m hoping that my kids will take on every sport that they want as well, because I think it’s really important," he added.
