Reese Witherspoon Backs Will Ferrell for PEOPLE's Next Sexiest Man Alive: 'Who Else?
At the screening, Ferrell, 57, and his co-star Reese Witherspoon, 48, discussed Ferrell's potential campaign for PEOPLE Magazine's annual Sexiest Man Alive honor. About last year’s snub, Ferrell expressed his longing for a nomination, PEOPLE reported. "Again. I mean, I missed out last year," he explained referencing a funny exchange he had with Savannah Guthrie that morning.
When asked why Ferrell would make a perfect Sexiest Man Alive cover star, Witherspoon swiftly replied, "Because, I mean, who else would it be? I can't think of anybody!"
At the same event, Ferrell further commented, "Last year, the idea was slightly floated out there... Let's go, PEOPLE, pull the trigger." Witherspoon playfully agreed, saying, "Hard launch."
Ferrell humorously posed a cover shot by popping the collar of his jacket, joking that the vibe he was giving is, "My fleece is soft." Witherspoon affirmed, saying, "It's a lock."
Earlier, during his "Today" appearance, Ferrell expressed his frustration about not being named Sexiest Man Alive in 2024. Guthrie recalled their entertaining conversation where Ferrell campaigned for the title. "Yes, [my campaign] started here," he noted. "I got zero votes," he lamented.
Guthrie reacted with disbelief, exclaiming, "That can’t be! I didn’t have a vote but I would vote for you." When co-host Craig Melvin pointed out that John Krasinski won in 2024, Ferrell begrudgingly accepted his loss, saying, "Okay. All right. I guess... I don’t get it."
