Rivian is set to introduce their highly anticipated R3X
Rivian, the electric vehicle manufacturer, is set to release its highly anticipated R3X, according to CEO RJ Scaringe. Scaringe reveals that the R3X, a sporty variant, will hit the streets before the base model. While an exact launch date has not been disclosed yet, Scaringe assures that it will happen "as soon as we possibly can."
Scaringe explains, "We're prioritizing the launch of the R2 model, allowing for some stability, and subsequently introducing the R3. I can confirm that the initial release of the R3 will feature the R3X version." The R3 lineup was first revealed during Rivian's R2 unveiling event in March.
Although Rivian has remained tight-lipped about specific details concerning the R3 and R3X, it has disclosed that the compact SUV will be priced lower than the R2, which has a starting price of $45,000. Additionally, it promises "more dynamic abilities, both on and off road," alongside significant advancements in autonomous capabilities. The upcoming models will also boast the NACS charging port and Rivian's latest 4695 cylindrical battery cells.
As for the R2, production is expected to commence in the first half of 2026. It is projected to offer a range of over 300 miles and achieve a remarkable 0 to 60mph acceleration in just three seconds. On the other hand, the R3 lineup is slated for a 2027 release, providing enthusiasts with more exciting options in the future.
