Rumer Willis Praises Bruce Willis and Demi Moore for Their "Beautiful" Coparenting Example
Rumer Willis expressed her gratitude for her divorced parents, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, highlighting their commendable approach to coparenting. She spoke about this on the British talk show Loose Women on February 3, 2023. Rumer, 36, also provided an update on Bruce’s health. In 2022, he received diagnoses of frontotemporal dementia and communication disorder aphasia.
"He’s doing great," Rumer stated. "In California, the main concern for many of us is the fires and ensuring everything is fine." She added, "My family is very close, and it is beautiful how we support each other, creating a lovely unit."
Rumer shared how her parents' coparenting has inspired her with her toddler daughter from her relationship with Derek Richard Thomas. Their daughter, Louetta, was born in April 2023, while the couple announced their split over a year later, in August 2024.
"The most valuable thing for me is that their split didn't disrupt the beautiful foundation they built for my sisters and me. We never felt torn between them, as they avoided playing against each other," she noted. "We are a family, and we remain one, regardless of circumstances. This foundation has equipped me well, and as I navigate coparenting now, I am incredibly grateful for their example."
Bruce, 69, and Demi, 62, were married for 13 years before their 2000 split. Despite this, they have sustained an amicable relationship, spending quality time as a family with Rumer, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30.
Recently, the family celebrated Demi's achievement at the Golden Globes, where she won Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in "The Substance," marking a milestone in her career.
Rumer shared her pride on Instagram, stating, "What a gift to witness you shine and receive acknowledgment for your incredible work." Scout echoed her excitement, exclaiming her joy and gratitude. Meanwhile, Tallulah expressed her profound appreciation, saying, "This woman is my teacher, my guide, my friend." Bruce’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, also joined the celebration, exclaiming, "We’re screaming over here!!!"
