Salma Hayek Shares Her Charming Old-Fashioned Habits
Salma Hayek enjoys a tech-free lifestyle. In her interview with Marie Claire for the March 11 issue, the 58-year-old actress shared that she does not own a computer, which she sees as beneficial.
"It takes away your intelligence because the brain grows lazy," Hayek expressed in the magazine's "Craftsmanship" issue. She writes everything by hand and avoids using her phone often, stating, "They cannot profile me."
"I don’t buy online. I don’t order food online," she added, expressing her dislike for artificial intelligence too. "The artificial intelligence doesn’t know me."
Despite her avoidance of modern technology, Hayek is still making strides in Hollywood. She discussed writing her first feature film, describing it as "meaningful." Her production company, Ventanarosa, will produce the film, and she will direct it.
"I think I’ve earned the right after 25 years of doing it for others," Hayek mentioned. She promised that the movie is "full of surprises to the very end."
Gender Inequity in Hollywood
Hayek also addressed the issue of gender inequity in the entertainment industry. She noted that when films succeed, "the credit goes to the man." Her perspective reflects her experience in a male-dominated field.
"The girl is just the girl," she remarked. "I do have an audience and they go see me. But I’ve never gotten credit for the audience I bring into the cinema."
Celebrating Age and Women's Value
Discussing Hollywood's treatment of middle-aged women, Hayek reflected, "There was a time when I was the sexy girl, but thank God age came and gave me the ability to expand to other territories." She affirms that she still embraces her femininity.
"Another calling that I have is to remind everyone that women are not disposable after a certain age in any department. We should battle that with all we’ve got," she concluded.
