Samsung to Replace Samsung Messages with Google Messages for Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 Phones in the US
Samsung is making a significant change to its upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 phones in the US. According to reports from 9to5Google, these devices will not come pre-installed with the Samsung Messages app. Instead, users will have to download it separately from the Galaxy Store if they prefer to use it.
The decision to remove the Samsung Messages app comes as Samsung has chosen to make Google Messages the default texting app for its smartphones. This change was implemented in 2022 and has facilitated the adoption of RCS messaging, offering users a more advanced messaging experience.
In a message shared by Android leaker Max Weinbach, Samsung explains that starting with the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Fold 6, and upcoming models, the company will no longer preload the Samsung Messages app. Instead, Google Messages will be the preferred option as it promises to provide an enhanced experience for expressing emotions while ensuring communication is safe and enjoyable.
It's worth noting that this change appears to be exclusive to phones sold in the US. Mishaal Rahman, a reliable source for Android rumors, suggests that the Samsung Messages app will still be pre-installed on versions of the foldable devices purchased in Canada and Europe.
This modified approach by Samsung demonstrates a strategic move to strengthen its collaboration with Google and leverage the features and capabilities offered by the Google Messages app. While some users may need to adapt to this change, it ultimately aims to provide a seamless and improved messaging experience on Samsung's innovative and cutting-edge devices.
