Sebastian Maniscalco Jokes About Humbling Moment of His Son Falling Asleep at His Show
Sebastian Maniscalco humorously reflects on parenting while managing his comedic tour. "It's always interesting when you notice that your son is knocked out in the audience," he commented in a recent exclusive with PEOPLE, emphasizing the quirks of being both a father and a performer.
At 51, Maniscalco continues his "It Ain't Right" comedy tour while raising two children. He has a 7-year-old daughter, Serafina, and a 5-year-old son, Caruso, with his wife Lana Gomez. About his children's experiences at his shows, he says they usually enjoy the performances. "My son just fell asleep during the last one. That was quite humbling," he admitted.
Recently, Maniscalco posted a photo on Instagram featuring himself and Caruso in stylish suits. He reminisced, "In my day, dressing for an occasion was essential. Nowadays, kids wear pajamas to weddings!" He believes in maintaining etiquette through his son’s attire, commenting that dressing appropriately signifies respect, while also humorously crediting his wife for their fashionable choices. Lana responded happily to the post, expressing her pride as a mother.
Maniscalco's comedic journey began at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood, leading him to notable appearances on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." He has headlined several famous comedy specials, including "What's Wrong with People?" and "Stay Hungry."
The road may be demanding for him, adding complexity to family life. He remarked on the difficulties of parenting from afar, often using FaceTime for connection. Despite this, he expressed pride in his children, recognizing their understanding of his career.
Since marrying Gomez in 2013, he highlighted the freshness that touring brings to their marriage. "Every return home feels exciting," he noted, adding that they eagerly anticipate seeing each other. Maniscalco light-heartedly tips his hat to those who maintain consistency in their relationships. "But sometimes you look at your partner and wonder, 'Are you going to leave the house soon?'"
