Selena Gomez Shares BTS Photos from Wizards Beyond Waverly Place
Selena Gomez recently expressed her joy after appearing on "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place." On November 15, she posted several behind-the-scenes photos from the show's set on Instagram. The actress and singer shared her excitement about reprising her role as Alex Russo in this new spinoff series.
In her Instagram post, Gomez conveyed her happiness, writing, "NOTHING will ever beat making little kids laugh." She thanked the show by addressing @disneywizardsseries, stating how it made "the little girl in me so happy!! Hope you guys watch!! 💜🪄."
The first of her posted photos featured Gomez smiling with an audience made up of children who waved energetically behind her. Another image showed her beside her costar David Henrie, who plays her older brother, Justin Russo. She also shared a selfie with her young costar, Taylor Cora. Additionally, fans could see Henrie sitting alone on the kitchen set, sporting a cheerful grin, plus a group photo of the entire cast and crew on set.
These posts came after the premiere of Gomez's return as Alex in the show’s inaugural episode on Disney+ on October 29. "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place" serves as a continuation of "Wizards of Waverly Place," which aired on Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012. Just days prior, she hinted at her return on Instagram Stories, teasing that fans would see her "sooner than you think."
In a comment on Gomez’s Instagram, Henrie alluded that she would appear in the series' final episode. He remarked, "What a special way to end the season! Can’t wait for people to see this 🔥 finale 🔥."
The plot of the new series revolves around Justin, who wishes to lead a "normal, mortal life with his family," until Alex unexpectedly visits him. She arrives with a young wizard named Billie, portrayed by Janice LeAnn Brown, hoping to persuade Justin to mentor her.
Speaking to PEOPLE during the premiere in October, Gomez emphasized the significance of the show to her career. "It’s the best feeling in the whole world to bring this back for you, and to all the people who have never seen it before," she said. She acknowledged how it served as the foundation for her present success, stating, "This is what gave me everything that I have today, and I will never forget that this is where I started."
Both "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place" and "Wizards of Waverly Place" are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
