Serena Williams Surprises at 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show
Serena Williams surprised fans with a special appearance at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show alongside Kendrick Lamar.
On Sunday, February 9, Williams tweeted, "Let’s go Super Bowl halftime??! I died a little!" She shared a video of her lively dance performance, showcasing her outfit: a blue pleated mini skirt, a matching jacket, and a white top. She completed the look with blue-and-white sneakers and wore her hair down.
Williams captured attention as the cameras focused on her dancing atop a platform while Lamar performed his hit song "Not Like Us." There had been speculation about whether Lamar would perform this track, which targets Drake, but he did so with enthusiasm.
Fans noted that Williams's presence added to the buzz around Lamar and Drake’s ongoing feud. Williams and Drake, who dated briefly in the early 2010s, never publicly confirmed their relationship. One user on X commented, "Bruhhh Kendrick got Serena Williams to Crip Walk at the damn Super Bowl; there’s no way Drake can come back from this lol."
Another remarked, "the crowd…..serena williams …..drake is never gonna show his face again," referring to Lamar and Williams’s Compton roots where the Crip Walk originated.
Williams responded to her dance moves with another post on X, stating, "Man, I did not Crip Walk like that at Wimbledon. Ooh, I would have been fined! It was all love." She excitedly captioned the video, "Super Bowl halftime show babyyyyyyyyy."
Previously, in 2012, Williams drew media attention when she celebrated her "Golden Slam" title by performing the Crip Walk, leading to mixed reactions from fans. Fox Sports' Jason Whitlock criticized her actions, comparing them to making an inappropriate joke in a church setting. He described her behavior as "immature and classless."
In a response to the backlash, Williams explained in an interview with Us Weekly, "It’s getting so much attention. It just happened. I was so excited that it just came out. I guess I’m good at it!"
She emphasized that the criticism did not affect her, declaring, "That’s the least of my worries. I’m so excited I was able to do the dance. I’m glad I did it!"
