Shakira Reunites with Jennifer Lopez at the 2025 Grammys
The Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira won the best Latin pop album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Shakira, 48, celebrated her victory at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Jennifer Lopez, 55, presented Shakira with the award, marking their first reunion on stage since their Super Bowl LIV Halftime performance in February 2020.
"Wow, this is incredible," Shakira expressed right after receiving the award. "Thank you so much. Thank you."
In her acceptance speech, Shakira conveyed a touching message.
"I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved and worthy. I will always fight with you," she affirmed.
She also honored the hardworking women who support their families daily: "You are the true heroes. This is for you, too." Her message resonated during a time when immigration issues were heavily debated in the political landscape, with ongoing deportation efforts from President Donald Trump's administration.
Shakira didn’t forget to dedicate this achievement to her sons, Milan, 12, and Sasha, 10, who were in the audience. "I'm so proud of you both for your kind hearts. Thank you for your support. I love you," she said.
Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran is Shakira's first album in seven years.
Shakira described the album as an emotional journey: "Making this body of work has been an alchemical process. Writing each song helped me rebuild myself. My tears transformed into diamonds, and my vulnerability became strength," she noted about the 16-track album in February 2024.
Other nominees for best Latin pop album included Anitta’s Funk Generation, Luis Fonsi’s El Viaje, Kany García’s GARCÍA, and Kali Uchis’ ORQUÍDEAS.
