Skai Jackson Shares Insights on Motherhood After Welcoming First Baby
Skai Jackson recently shared her experiences and lessons after becoming a new mother to her baby boy, Kasai. The former Disney Channel star spoke exclusively with E! News about her favorite moments in motherhood and what she has learned along the way.
Skai, 22, feels excited about her new role as a mom. She stated, "There's so many favorite moments. I feel like just seeing my baby every day is special." The actress expressed how each day brings joy as she watches her child grow.
While her journey is just starting, Skai highlights the strength she's discovered through this experience. She remarked, "I've learned just how strong I am in this process of being a young mom." Balancing motherhood and her career is a challenge, but she is determined. Recently, she made a red carpet return at the NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors and hosted a Young, Gifted, & Black panel. "Being a mom and getting back to work is another favorite thing of mine," she shared. With lots of support, she manages to balance both roles effectively.
In November, Skai announced her pregnancy and was thrilled about this new chapter in her life. She noted the excitement of embracing motherhood while also pursuing new acting projects. At that time, she told People, "My heart is so full!"
Skai highlighted her growing baby bump at the premiere of her film, "The Man in the White Van," on December 10. Before Kasai’s arrival in January, she drew inspiration from her mother, Kiya Cole. Skai said, "She has inspired me so much, just her work ethic alone." Kiya had left her job years ago to manage Skai’s early acting career, which led to significant roles and modeling opportunities.
Kiya had shared her experiences about sacrificing her opportunities for Skai’s career. Skai noted, "She was a young mom as well. I've learned so much from her, including many amazing tips that I incorporate daily."
Looking ahead, the Dancing With the Stars alum expressed eagerness to return to work. She stated, "I'm just ready to get back to work and show everyone what I've been working on."
