Song Jae-lim, Actor from Moon Embracing the Sun, Found Dead at 39
Song Jae-lim, a recognizable South Korean actor famous for his roles in K-dramas like Moon Embracing the Sun and Two Weeks, was discovered dead in his Seoul home on November 7. His age was 39, as confirmed by the Seoul Seongdong Police to the Daily Mail on November 12.
In a tragic moment for the acting community, Song Jae-lim was found by a friend who arrived for their lunch plans around 12:30 p.m. According to police reports, they noted no signs of foul play, although the cause of death remains undisclosed.
Following his passing, Song's family announced plans for a close-family funeral, which will occur on November 14, as reported to the Yonhap News Agency.
Beginning his career with the 2009 film Actresses, Song gained recognition with his character in Moon Embracing the Sun just three years later. His performances garnered critical acclaim in various K-dramas, including The Idle Mermaid (2014), Unkind Ladies (2015), and I Wanna Hear Your Song (2019). Notably, his role as Kwon Shi-Kyung in The Idle Mermaid earned him a Soompi Award in 2015.
In addition to scripted shows, Song participated in the reality TV series We Got Married. Partnering with Kim So-eun, he won a Soompi trophy for Best Couple. He emphasized their strong offscreen camaraderie, which facilitated a smooth collaboration during filming.
"We had a shared goal: to finish filming quickly and create enough content for the show," Song mentioned during a 2015 interview with Soompi. "That friendship is still strong between us."
