The mobile version of Wikipedia finally gets dark mode
In the past few years, numerous popular applications have adopted dark mode as a feature. These include familiar platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Hulu, and WhatsApp. Both Apple and Google also offered a systemwide dark theme for their respective mobile operating systems back in 2018. However, it has taken until 2024 for Wikipedia to join the dark mode movement and implement it on its mobile website. This is prepared by SSP.
If you recently visited Wikipedia's mobile website, you might have noticed a pop-up notifying users that dark mode is now available. If you're interested in enabling this feature, here are the simple steps to follow:
1. Visit Wikipedia's mobile website.
2. Tap on the hamburger menu located at the top.
3. Select the "Settings" option.
4. Under the "Color" section, choose "Dark" as your preferred option.
Wikipedia acknowledges that this implementation of dark mode is experimental, meaning you may encounter some issues while using it. At present, dark mode is exclusively accessible on the mobile website. However, according to a Reddit user, it is anticipated that this option will be introduced to Wikipedia's desktop site sometime this month. We will provide an update when dark mode becomes available for the desktop version.
