Travis Kelce Responds to Lil Wayne's ‘Cheating Azz Chiefs’ Comment

In the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, released on January 22, NFL star Travis Kelce, 35, and brother Jason Kelce, 37, addressed Lil Wayne's negative feedback about the Kansas City Chiefs' victory in their recent playoff game. Jason pointed out the overshadowing complaints about the referees during the game, PEOPLE reported. "The whole world was talking about something else during the game... they were complaining about the refs again, Trav," he noted.

Jason referenced a social media post from Lil Wayne, who expressed disdain for the Chiefs. "Lil Wayne wrote, ‘I hate the cheating a- Chiefs. So an a– with two z's," Jason stated. Travis humorously responded, "Shout out to Tunechie, man."

Fans and players voicing frustration targeted referees for multiple contentious calls in the AFC divisional game on January 18, according to ESPN and Fox News. Notably, the Texans’ defense garnered penalties for contact with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, prolonging the Chiefs’ drives. This led to their eventual win with a score of 23-14.

One displeased fan tweeted, "These refs are ridiculous… How is a flag on the Texans?? Mahomes slid way too late. Awful." Another shared a humorous meme about the referees, showing various flags on the field while joking about Mahomes’ protection.

Lil Wayne, a 42-year-old public figure and Packers supporter conveyed his thoughts in another post on X. He stated, "It’s not even impressive when u cheat and then clearly try to cheat. Just win baby."

Will Anderson Jr., who received a muscle cramp for roughing the passer on Mahomes, candidly remarked about the refereeing. "We knew it was going to be us versus the refs going into this game," he stated in an ESPN interview.

Following the game, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans reiterated the players' awareness of the challenges they faced. He stated, "Knowing that going into this game, what we were up against, we can't make the mistakes that we made…"

Despite the challenges, Travis Kelce played a significant role in securing the Chiefs' victory, with seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown, as highlighted on the Chiefs' official site. Patrick Mahomes lauded Kelce, emphasizing his ability to make crucial plays in high-stress situations.

"He doesn't let the moment be bigger than what it is," Mahomes commented, noting that Kelce brings intensity to his playoff performance.

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the Buffalo Bills for the AFC Conference Championship on Sunday, January 26.
