Wes Bentley Shares His Current Passions: Books, Music, and More
Wes Bentley, known for his role in Yellowstone, shares his current favorite things. These items have greatly influenced his life.
"I’m obsessed with The Tao of Pooh, a book that changed my life," Bentley, 46, says in Us Weekly. "I realize it sounds cheesy, but it's true."
Before discovering Benjamin Hoff's philosophical work, Bentley identifies as a "temperamental kid" with an attitude. However, reading this book transformed his perspective, connecting him with Taoism through Winnie-the-Pooh.
"After reading that book, it opened my eyes in just 15 minutes," he reveals. "I learned that some things are beyond my control. I no longer feel the need to react."
Continuous Learning and Exploration
Bentley's curiosity remains strong as he seeks new interests. Currently, he is binge-watching the Netflix docuseries Ancient Apocalypse. This series features journalist Graham Hancock, who explores lost civilizations from the last Ice Age.
"It explores our potential origins back in prehistory during the last Ice Age," Bentley describes. "How exciting is that?"
In addition to documentaries, Bentley enjoys classic films such as Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil and The Shining. Each viewing of the latter film reveals something new to him.
Musical Affections and Career Insights
An avid music fan, Bentley cannot stop listening to Radiohead’s 2008 album In Rainbows.
"I’ve been captivated by that album since its release," he tells. "It’s one of the most interesting and beautiful albums ever made."
Since 2018, Bentley has portrayed Jamie Dutton on Yellowstone. As the series approaches its final season, he feels a mix of satisfaction and relief about his role.
"It has been fulfilling to portray someone lacking spine, with weaknesses and emptiness," he confesses while discussing part two of the show's fifth season. "It's been a great challenge I aimed to meet. While I hope I succeeded, it will also be a relief to conclude this chapter one day."
