Why Sam Asghari Describes His Relationship With Britney Spears as a "Crash Course in Hollywood"

Sam Asghari, Britney Spears' ex-husband, opened up about the impact of the singer's conservatorship on their seven-year relationship. He reflected on the challenges associated with navigating the entertainment industry while being linked to Spears.

Asghari noted that their time together was a "crash course in Hollywood," emphasizing the difficulties posed by her conservatorship, which was managed by her father, Jamie Spears. During his appearance on the Jan. 27 episode of Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson's Sibling Revelry podcast, he recalled the early days of their romance being promising. However, learning the details of the conservatorship brought confusion.

He expressed disbelief, saying, "I thought I'm in America. What do you mean?" Sam, who immigrated from Iran at age 12, detailed his thought process at the time. He thought fame would be the biggest challenge, but he quickly realized the critical obstacles lie elsewhere.

"The hardest things come from your parents and the people close to you," he revealed. Sam described how many people take advantage of relationships, leading to emotional tolls. "They take advantage because they think you owe them something," he said. This realization was among the most difficult experiences for him.

Throughout their journey, Asghari supported Spears during her fight to terminate her conservatorship. Placed under the legal arrangement in 2008 after a highly publicized breakdown, Spears struggled against numerous constraints, including the inability to remove her IUD while expressing a desire to have children with Sam. They began dating in 2016.

Ultimately, the conservatorship ended in November 2021, setting the stage for their marriage in June 2022. However, their union lasted only 14 months, concluding with their divorce settlement in May 2024. Sam later began a public relationship with Brooke Irvine earlier this year.

Reflecting on his time with Britney, he expressed a sense of gratitude. "I’m always going to be grateful to have been a part of her life," he stated. "We learned so much, and it was a beautiful experience."
