Why T.J. Holmes Won't Propose to Amy Robach on Christmas Day
T.J. Holmes clearly stated he would not propose to Amy Robach on Christmas. During their podcast, "Amy and T.J.," they discussed fan inquiries about the possibility of an engagement on the holiday. Robach, 51, emphasized her desire not to get engaged on a meaningful date, US Weekly reported.
She humorously pointed out that people often congratulate brides after proposals. "You should congratulate the groom because he’s lucky to have her. But that is maybe old-fashioned," she said. Holmes quipped, "Lucky me, I say it every day." He firmly confirmed, "And no there will not be, obviously… a Christmas Day proposal."
Holmes inquired about Robach's previous proposal experiences. She recalled past proposals taking place on "random days that had zero significance." Robach was previously married to Tim McIntosh from 1996–2008 and to Andrew Shue from 2010 until their 2023 divorce.
Holmes reflected on his proposals, mentioning they were also "random and insignificant." He expressed that many proposals lack significant meaning. Their podcast frequently provides insights into their evolving relationship. They started the show in December 2023, a year after attracting attention for their off-screen connection.
Both Holmes and Robach ended their respective marriages after their relationship emerged in November 2022. They claimed their marriages were over before their relationship began. Shue and Holmes’ ex-spouses have since moved on as well.
Earlier this month, Robach and Holmes revealed their thoughts on engagement during a podcast episode. "It’s not an if, it’s a when. I like that. I appreciate that," Robach stated about the engagement discussion. She recounted how Holmes declined her proposal suggestion.
Robach then delicately explained, "We were talking about women proposing to men. But I’m just saying that if I answer this, I feel like that’d be part of me saying when I would like to get married."
While specific plans are not yet set in stone, Robach hopes for marriage in the fall and joked that it functions as a proposal to Holmes. Holmes commented he and Robach are set to be married "sooner rather than later."
"I say that based on my exclusive conversations with the bride," Holmes joked. His serious undertones stated, "I say that because we are not trying to figure things out or do a trial run." He confirmed their future was secured, insisting, "When we are getting married, that’s going to be a byproduct of what’s happening. And it’s coming."
Robach added they have "discussed marriage" but have not finalized exact plans for the wedding date.
