Why Tiffany Haddish Was Kicked Out of Ballet Class at Age 27
Tiffany Haddish, known for her role in Girls Trip, recounted a painful ballet class experience from nearly two decades ago. This class was part of an audition for a dance film, and the events left her wanting to "smite the teacher."
Haddish remembers reaching a breaking point during her 20s because of that ballet class. She auditioned for a film that required ballet training but faced disappointment. "I auditioned for a ballet-style dance film and I did not get hired," she told Us Weekly in an interview on October 30. "But I also got kicked out of ballet class."
So why was she dismissed at 27? "For cussing," Tiffany said candidly. "That s--t hurts!" After being kicked out, she still attended the class to observe, showing her trademark humor. "[I’d] go to ballet. I’d go to the recital just to smite the teacher," she shared.
Despite this experience, the 44-year-old actress still finds joy in dance. "I do it at home alone all the time," she said. "I'm not good at it. I take barre classes. That’s my jam!"
In addition to her dance endeavors, Haddish highlights an important influence in her life: her grandmother. Tiffany spoke about her grandmother's lessons in fashion and financial self-reliance. "We didn’t have a whole lot of money, ’cause models back then weren’t making a whole lot of money," she explained.
Her grandmother not only shared wisdom about making clothes but also ingrained a love for fashion in Haddish. "She taught me a lot about fashion and how to make clothes," Tiffany stated. "So, fashion is a part of who I am, and it’s how you express yourself."
