Ball python found rescued from Dumpster in Prince Edward Island
Officials at the P.E.I. Humane Society in Prince Edward Island, Canada, are giving special care to an unexpected guest - a snake found in an unusual location, namely, the trash.
During the process of emptying a dumpster in the Charlottetown neighborhood of East Royalty, sanitation workers made a surprising discovery - a ball python measuring approximately 3 feet in length.
The staff of the Humane Society found the situation quite amusing. Runaway snakes are a rare occurrence, but it's plausible that the python may have escaped from its enclosure or even been abandoned and subsequently hopped into a garbage bag, according to Ashley Travis, the shelter's development and communications coordinator, as reported by CBC News.
Ball pythons, which are native to Africa, can have a lifespan of up to 30 years and are widely kept as popular pets.
Currently, the shelter is actively trying to locate the snake's owner and ascertain whether it escaped or was intentionally left behind.
As a temporary residence for the python at the Humane Society, they have placed her in an empty cardboard box, which has prompted shelter workers to contemplate naming her Pepsi, in a quirky tribute to her surroundings.
