Halsey Talks About Recent Seizure and Chronic Health Issues
Halsey, aged 29, opened up about a recent health scare that led to her being hospitalized after suffering a "very scary" seizure. On September 25, the singer, who uses she/they pronouns, shared the news with her fans on X, previously known as Twitter, while answering health-related questions.
"I'm home from the hospital now after a few days, so a win is a win!" Halsey responded to a fan inquiry about her well-being. She further elaborated to another fan, stating, "I had a seizure! Very scary! Don’t recommend it!"
On Instagram, Halsey posted a light-hearted yet poignant video from her hospital bed, accompanied by her fiancé Avon Jogia. "Happy late Bi Visibility Day," she captioned. "This year I’m celebrating by dying with a man by my side (for legal reasons that’s a joke)," tossing up a peace sign while adding, "We had a whole plan for you guys."
Halsey's health revelations come after a series of complex medical battles. Earlier in the year, she disclosed a diagnosis of Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder in 2022, conditions that are currently being managed or are in remission.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease wherein the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues, leading to inflammation in various parts of the body such as the joints, skin, and internal organs. T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders involve uncontrolled production of specific white blood cells and can lead to conditions like leukemia and lymphoma.
In her quest for better health, Halsey recounted a "rocky start" but mentioned significant improvement over the past two years, attributing much of her progress to effective medical management. "After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to," she concluded. "I can’t wait to get back where I belong: With you all 🤍 Singing and screaming my heart out."
Furthermore, in June, Halsey highlighted these health challenges while announcing her new album, *The Great Impersonator*. "Long story short, I’m lucky to be alive," she stated on Instagram, expressing profound gratitude and resilience.
Reflecting on the future, Halsey stated, "I’m turning 30 soon, and it's a great way to start the decade," signifying hope and aspirations beyond her health struggles.
