The news that Bruce Willis has retired from acting due to a diagnosis of dementia is already known to everyone. In this regard, many people expressed their support for him and his family with words of love and gratitude for everything the actor did in the movies.

"For us," writes the Movie Veb website, "he remains the brightest movie star if there ever was one. He appeared on the big screen in action movies of the late 1980s. In the era of strong muscles and machine guns, Willis was remembered for his charm, and with it, many iconic quotes."

Here are 10 of the most famous of them according to the website.

10 Die Hard 2 (1990) - "How can the same shit happen to the same guy twice?"

We love John McClane's character for many reasons, which is why Willis in his performance has been on this list many times. But in the movie Die Hard 2, McClane says what we all think about when talking about a situation where he has to be the hero of the day, and he was just waiting for his wife at the airport. You can hear that line right here, and it's another reason we love McClane's comments about the frustrating circumstances when he's forced to go kill terrorists. It's proof that he's one of us if we ever find ourselves in difficult circumstances.

9 Looper (2012) - "I remember what you do after you do it. And it hurts."

This is one of Bruce Willis' last great roles of the last decade. It is bitter to watch Willis in this scene when he talks about memories because now we know about his current condition. Rian Johnson's time-travel sci-fi movie is a great movie, and one of the most memorable scenes in the entire movie is the scene where Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt sit face to face and have a stark, existential discussion about time travel.

And, just so you know, both actors play older and younger versions of the same character. Rian Johnson is a great director and an even greater screenwriter. The scene in the diner is in the middle of the movie and develops the plot perfectly.

8 Live Free or Die Hard (2007) - "I'm out of bullets."

By the time the fourth installment of the Die Hard franchise, Live Free or Die Hard, comes out, John McClane is already more like a superhero than a real tough cop. Nevertheless, McClane literally jumps out of a moving car, which takes off into the sky and collides with a helicopter full of bad guys, killing them instantly. When Matt (Justin Long) approaches McClane and tells him that he just destroyed a helicopter with his car, McClane responds: "I'm out of bullets."

7 The Fifth Element (1997) - "Listen, lady, I'm all for socializing, but maybe you could shut up for a minute."

One of the best things about The Fifth Element is the chemistry that Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich create on screen. Both characters have brilliant roles. Willis plays Corbin Dallas, a guy who didn't really ask to be in the situation he is in because a higher being has landed in his life.

His relationship with Lilo is sometimes amusing because she speaks a language he doesn't know, and when he's overwhelmed, he has to say the above quote to calm his nerves.

6 Die Hard (1988) - "Come to the coast, we'll get together, we'll laugh."

John McClane is a real witty detective of the New York police. After defeating the first wave of bad guys in Die Hard, McClane finds himself in an elevator shaft and crawling through an air conditioning duct. There are many memorable shots in Die Hard, and one of them is a close-up of McClane, letting us know that he didn't want to be in that situation by saying the line: "Come to the coast, we'll get together, we'll have a laugh."

Knowing that actors such as Schwarzenegger, Stallone, and many other macho action stars of the 1980s were contending for this role, you have to wonder. Because no one else could convey that level of sarcasm like Willis.

5 The Sixth Sense (1999) - "What do you think these ghosts want when they talk to you?"

"The Sixth Sense is one of the scariest movies of all time. But it's also a great drama that showed that Bruce Willis has a great acting range.

The actor plays Dr. Malcolm Crowe, paired with Haley Joel Osment as Cole Cyrus, a boy who sees dead people in his everyday life. Osment utters the iconic line: "I see dead people," but Willis owns the phrase, which is often overlooked when it comes to plot development and even the unforgettable twist at the end of the movie. Malcolm asks Cole: "What do you think these ghosts want when they talk to you?" It is here that we learn that these ghosts do not want to hurt him or scare him. In fact, they want to help him.

4 Armageddon (1998) - "We won, Gracie."

There are many interesting moments in the movie Armageddon. It's an action movie about saving the world from an asteroid the size of Texas that is headed straight for us. In addition to Willis, the movie features a star-studded cast: Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Billy Bob Thornton, and Steve Buscemi. Even in a bad Michael Bay movie, and Armageddon is not that bad, there is always a great sentimental theme. In this case, it's the father-daughter bond between Willis' character Harry Stamper and Liv Tyler, who plays his daughter Grace.

To save the world, a man must stay on an asteroid to detonate a nuclear bomb. Harry sacrifices himself after a touching farewell scene with his daughter. After detonating the bomb, he says the words: "We won, Gracie."

3 Die Hard (1988) - "Welcome to the party, buddy."

In the movie Die Hard, McClane says the phrase "Welcome to the party, buddy!" The moment when McClane sees Police Sergeant Powell (Reginald Val Johnson) leave after the shootout is particularly striking, thinking that the distress call in Nakatomi Plaza was a fluke. He throws a corpse out the window of his police car, which scares Powell to death and forces the police to intervene. This phrase is perfect for McClane to take action, revealing what is happening in the building.

2 Pulp Fiction (1994) - "Zed is dead, baby. Zed is dead."

Pulp Fiction features a long list of characters who play major and minor roles. The movie brings together the best actors at the time, and it's not like what anyone else was doing at the time.

There are several stories in Pulp Fiction that intertwine with each other. In one of them, Willis plays Butch Coolidge, a boxer who ran away with the mafia's money after refusing to lose a fight to them. Strange and wild things happen next: Butch rescues a mob boss he has offended from torture, sexual assault, and ultimately murder by a criminal named Zed.

The story ends with Butch picking up his girlfriend and asking where he got the motorcycle. Butch replies that it is Zed's motorcycle. She asks who Zed is, and the next line puts the story to rest in a way that only Quentin Tarantino could: "Zed's dead, baby. Zed is dead."

1 Die Hard (1988) - "Yippie Ki Yay, Mother F***er."

What else did you expect to see on this list? If it hasn't been mentioned yet, you should have already figured it out: John McClane is the most iconic role in Bruce Willis' career. You can find a huge number of catchphrases in all the Die Hard movies. But no matter how you feel about them, the Roy Rogers-inspired "Yippie Ki Yay" is the best of them all. McClane adds his own touch to it by saying "Mother F***er" at the end when he talks on the radio to the movie's villain, Hans Gruber.

McClane is a cowboy, as the movie's antagonist likes to call him. So, he needs a "gunslinger" slogan that fits his image and adds his own personal touch to it. It is claimed to be the best phrase in the history of cinema. It's a controversial issue, but it definitely deserves to be at the top of this list.
