Stephen Ray Perry (January 22, 1949) is an American singer and songwriter. He was the vocalist and frontman of the rock band Journey during its most successful years - from 1977 to 1987 and from 1995 to 1998.

Singer's Room reports: "Perry had a successful solo career in the mid-1980s and 1990s, performed sporadically in the 2000s, and returned to the stage in 2018. Perry's vocal skills are considered to be outstanding and with the light hand of Jon Bon Jovi, his colleagues call him Voice."

Currently, Stephen Perry is ranked 76th on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. On April 7, 2017, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the band Journey.

Don't Stop Believin (from Journey)

"Don't Stop Believin" is a song by the American rock band Journey. It was released in October 1981 as the second single from the band's seventh studio album "Escape" (1981), released on Columbia Records. The authors of the song "Don't Stop Believin'" are Steve Perry, guitarist Neil Schon, and keyboardist Jonathan Kane. In terms of style and manner of performance, it is a mid-tempo rock anthem that is memorable for its characteristic opening piano riff.

The composition is unusual in that the chorus appears after the song itself is almost finished; its structure consists of two choruses and three verses before it reaches its central hook.

Faithfully (from Journey)

"Faithfully" (1983) is the second single from Journey's album "Frontiers", written by keyboardist Jonathan Kane. The song peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the second consecutive top twenty hit from the album Frontiers. Despite the absence of a chorus, the song has long been one of the band's most famous hits and is still popular.

In an article on Classic Rock, the song "Faithfully" was named the best power ballad ever recorded.

Open Arms (with Journey)

"Open Arms" (1981) is a single from the soundtrack to the movie Heavy Metal and the 1981 album Escape. The song was written by Steve Perry and Jonathan Kane. It is a powerful ballad with lyrics about a broken relationship and an attempt to rebuild it.

It is one of the band's most famous radio hits and their best song on the US Billboard Hot 100. There, "Open Arms" reached number two (February 1982) and stayed there for six weeks.

Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) (from Journey)

"Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" (January 1983) is a single from the album Frontiers. It peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks and stayed at number one on the Top Tracks chart for four weeks.

This song is also featured in the movie Tron: Legacy and in the fourth season of Stranger Things.

To accompany the song on MTV, the band filmed their first concept video, which received mixed reviews from critics.

Oh Sherrie

"Oh Sherrie" is the debut solo single by Steve Perry. It was recorded and released on Perry's first solo album, Street Talk (1984), released when he was still the lead singer of Journey.

This song is mistakenly attributed to Journey's discography, being credited to the band on several greatest hits albums, mainly due to its similarity to the band's signature sound, as well as its performance during the Raised on Radio Tour.

Foolish Heart

"Foolish Heart" is a song written by Steve Perry and Randy Goodrum and performed by Perry for his first solo album Street Talk. It was released as the fourth single of the album in November 1984 and peaked at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as number 2 on the Adult Contemporary chart in February 1985.

Strung Out

"Strung Out" is the 5th song from Steve Perry's solo album Street Talk (1984), written by Perry, Krampf, Billy Steele. "Strung Out" took the 40th place on the MTV hit list.

You Better Wait

"You Better Wait" is a song from Steve Perry's second solo studio album, For the Love of Strange Medicine (1994). The ballad was released as the first single to the album on June 28, 1994, peaking at number 29 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number one in Canada.

Against the Wall

"Against the Wall" is a song from Perry's 1994 album of the same name, which was supposed to be his second solo album. For a number of reasons, the release was canceled, and the song was released in 1998 as part of the singer's greatest hits collection Greatest Hits + Five Unreleased.

Missing You

"Missing You" is a song from the album For the Love of Strange Medicine. It peaked at number 74 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994.

Later, the song, as well as some of its B-sides, were included in Perry's compilation album Greatest Hits + Five Unreleased.
