Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Reveal Unique Name of Fourth Child
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, known for their contributions to the 'nepo baby' phenomenon, have shared the name of their fourth child - Olin. Announced during the premiere of "Deadpool & Wolverine" at New York City's David H. Koch Theater, Reynolds expressed his gratitude to his family by listing his children: James, 9; Inez, 7; Betty, 4; and their newest addition, Olin.
"Olin" is a name of Norse origin meaning "ancestor's heir." This choice holds special significance as Lively's maternal grandfather was named James Olin McAlpin. The couple had named their eldest daughter James, making this connection even more meaningful. The announcement was a long time coming; last February, the couple discreetly welcomed Olin without disclosing her name until now.
Reynolds, 47, jokingly mentioned they were waiting for their friend Taylor Swift to name their fourth child since Swift had named characters after their first three in her song "Betty." Swift, who mentions James, Inez, and Betty in her lyrics, has jokingly been considered the one to name their children.
Reynolds and Lively have shared humorous insights into their parenting journey. The "Free Guy" actor quipped about wanting as many children as possible while acknowledging the costs associated with having Taylor Swift as a babysitter to be prohibitive, making light of their star-studded friendship.
Blake Lively had hinted at their growing family when she shared pictures of her baby bump during a Super Bowl event in February. The pair, parents since their 2012 marriage, have embraced the expansion of their family. Reynolds expressed that while the jump from two to three children was significant, the addition of their fourth was a smoother transition. They continue to enjoy their family life, strongly connected to their Hollywood roots and close friendships.
"Deadpool & Wolverine," featuring Reynolds, will hit theaters on July 26.
