Boy George Expresses Regret Over Comments About Liam Payne Before His Death
Boy George has expressed remorse regarding a comment he made about Liam Payne. He shared his feelings on the November 21 episode of the "High Performance" podcast, hosted by Jake Humphrey and Damian Hughes. George referred to his remark as "not very nice," adding that he felt Payne was "out of control" when he commented, "He’s off his nut," US Weekly reported.
Reflecting on the impact of Payne's tragic fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16, George shared his shock. He likened the experience to when Amy Winehouse passed away, saying it felt senseless. "I was up at 5 in the morning and (…) literally like, ‘What the f—?’" he recalled.
The 63-year-old singer found the news coverage of Payne's father, Geoff, in Argentina particularly emotional. Geoff was in Buenos Aires to assist the police with their investigation and to bring fatty Payne’s remains back home to the U.K. George conveyed empathy for Payne's family during this difficult time, stating, "I care about his family … I was quite tearful about it. I really felt very sad."
Liam Payne was laid to rest in a private funeral ceremony in Amersham, England, on November 20. His former One Direction bandmates, including Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson, gathered for the occasion. This marked the first time the four surviving members had been together since Malik's departure in 2015.
Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, and ex-girlfriend, Cheryl Cole, were present, along with other notable attendees such as Simon Cowell and James Corden.
In the wake of Payne’s death, Buenos Aires prosecutors charged three individuals with abandonment leading to death and drug-related charges. One of those charged, Braian Nahuel Paiz, indicated that he is willing to cooperate fully with the investigation. He stated, "I want to contribute everything: my phone, everything to the investigation."
Earlier, SSP wrote that Jennifer Turpin got married with siblings in attendance.
