Break-in at Windsor Castle's Shaw Farm Near Residence of Prince William and Catherine
Police are actively investigating a break-in at the Windsor Castle estate, where Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children reside in Adelaide Cottage, PEOPLE reported. The intrusion, reported on October 13th, involved two masked individuals who infiltrated the estate's farm buildings by scaling a 6-foot fence. As Prince William and Kate, both aged 42, and their children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, were reportedly at home, the burglars targeted farm machinery, using a stolen vehicle for their escape, breaking through a security gate.
This incident took place at Shaw Farm, part of the estate, and follows the removal of armed police from the relevant gate. No comment has been provided by Kensington Palace or Buckingham Palace regarding security concerns.
According to a statement from local Thames Valley Police, dispatched to safeguard the area, the suspects escaped with a black Isuzu pick-up and a red quad bike toward Old Windsor. As of now, no arrests have been made, but investigations are ongoing.
During the time of the burglary, King Charles and Queen Camilla were not at Windsor Castle; Camilla was in India, while Charles remained in Scotland. Sources suggest that the burglars had been observing Windsor Castle, familiar with the storage and the timing for escape. Although alarms at Windsor existed, the break-in was only noted post-crash through the security barrier at Shaw Farm Gate, which has since required replacement.
Prince William and his family moved to the estate’s Adelaide Cottage in 2022, favorably located five minutes from the children's Lambrook School in Ascot.
