Carli Lloyd and Brian Hollins Celebrate Arrival of Baby Girl, Harper Anne Hollins
Carli Lloyd, a former U.S. Women’s National Team soccer star, and her husband, Brian Hollins, welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Harper Anne Hollins, on October 18, 2024, US Weekly reported. Sharing her joy on Instagram, Lloyd expressed gratitude for the blessing in their lives and acknowledged the challenges she faced during this journey, describing it as the hardest yet most rewarding experience she's undergone. Lloyd also expressed appreciation for the amazing team that helped bring Harper into the world.
The couple, who married in 2016, had previously announced their pregnancy in May 2024, candidly sharing their emotional fertility journey. Lloyd had struggled with unexplained infertility, undergoing three rounds of IVF. Despite feeling initial shame and embarrassment, she found solace in communities of women facing similar battles and emphasized the importance of speaking out about such experiences. Lloyd advocated for more resources and education on fertility treatments, believing that shared stories helped guide her own path.
Retiring from professional soccer in 2021, Lloyd admitted that her intense soccer career had delayed her desire for motherhood. She wished she had been better informed about fertility earlier. Notably, Lloyd retired after winning two World Cup championships and two Olympic gold medals, ranking third in goals scored for the USA behind Abby Wambach and Mia Hamm.
Now shifting focus, Lloyd aspires to actively cherish family time, an aspect she couldn't prioritize during her demanding career. Concluding her story, Lloyd reflected on motherhood, sharing advice she received that nothing in her soccer career would compare to the experience of being a mom and expressing excitement for this new chapter.
