Dave Coulier Tackles Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma with Determination
Dave Coulier, best known as a former "Full House" star, recently disclosed his battle with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, diagnosed following significant lymph node swelling after an upper respiratory issue in October, US Weekly reported. In an interview with People, he shared the rapid change from mild illness to dealing with cancer, describing the journey as an overwhelming roller coaster.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a cancer that impacts the lymphatic system by causing lymphocytes to grow abnormally, forming tumors throughout the body. Coulier, 65, received this difficult diagnosis after undergoing PET and CT scans, alongside a biopsy, revealing an aggressive B cell lymphoma. In consultation with medical experts, he and his wife, Melissa Bring, devised a treatment plan that increased his recovery rate significantly after a bone marrow test showed promising results.
Coulier, who has undergone chemotherapy, as well as three surgeries thus far, anticipates entering "total remission" by February 2025, if everything progresses according to his treatment plan. On his podcast, "Full House Rewind," he candidly expressed facing cancer head-on by opting to shave his head, embracing transparency, and hoping to inspire others by openly sharing his story.
Remaining positive for both himself and his family, especially as he eagerly expects his first grandchild, Coulier surrounds himself with activities and strength to combat any challenges along his diagnosis path. His resilient stance includes self-care advice to fans, encouraging them about the importance of regular check-ups such as mammograms or colonoscopies, and suggesting there's much to live for. He asserts that the swings between energy and discomfort during battle do not deter his focus on celebrating life and its moments.
