Davina McCall Expresses Gratitude After Brain Surgery for Rare Tumor
British TV host Davina McCall is "unbelievably grateful" following her brain surgery for a "very rare" tumor. The 57-year-old, known for her role on Big Brother U.K., shared a heartfelt video on Instagram on November 25, thanking her fans for their overwhelming support during her recovery. She initially revealed her upcoming surgery on November 15, after doctors discovered the tumor in a recent scan, US Weekly reported.
In her video, McCall expressed her happiness to be home again after her hospital stay. "It's really nice to be back home. I'm on the other side," she said. Although she mentioned that her short-term memory isn't perfect, she reassured fans, stating, "I can work on that." To help herself regain clarity, she is writing down her activities for safety.
She acknowledged the exceptional care provided by her boyfriend, hairdresser Michael Douglas, and her stepmother, Gaby McCall. "Big up the stepmoms. I don’t say thank you to Gaby enough. She’s been an amazing rock my whole life," McCall added.
During the video, she reflected on her experience, stating, "When something like this happens, I just feel so grateful." She also noted her overall luck in life but emphasized her current sense of gratitude. "I’m on the mend, I’m resting, I’m sleeping loads, and I feel really good," she concluded.
Earlier this month, McCall disclosed the details surrounding her surgery, emphasizing that doctors had identified a benign tumor. "I put my head in the sand for a while, then sought many opinions from neurosurgeons. I realized I had to get it taken out," she stated in a pre-surgery video.
Expressing confidence in her medical team, she continued, "I’m not worrying too much. I have all the faith in my surgeon and his team; I’m handing the reins over to him." She acknowledged that her role would be to focus on recovery afterward.
Later the same day, a message from Douglas confirmed McCall’s surgery went well. "Davina is out of surgery, and according to the surgeon, it was textbook," he shared on her Instagram. Douglas updated fans that she was recovering in ICU as a precaution and felt quite exhausted.
Following an update on November 18, Douglas mentioned that McCall had made "mega progress" within 24 hours, expressing relief at seeing improvement.
