Lady Gaga Describes Heartwarming Proposal by Fiancé Michael Polansky, Hints at Courthouse Wedding
Lady Gaga recently shared the endearing way her fiancé Michael Polansky proposed to her. During the October 1 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Gaga, 38, recounted how Polansky, 46, had asked her if he could propose before popping the question. Housewives franchise stars Lady Gaga briefly noted that Polansky’s proposal came after they had gone rock climbing, a hobby they both enjoy.
"We had gone on a rock climbing trip, and while we took photos at the top, he didn't propose there. Instead, he waited until we walked back to our room, asking if proposing was right. It was very him to do that," Gaga explained. Host Jimmy Kimmel asked if Polansky got down on one knee, but Gaga, modern as ever, appreciated his approach and confirmed he didn't.
Curious about their wedding plans, Kimmel asked if they envisioned a big Italian wedding. Gaga revealed they’re yet undecided but often contemplate a simple courthouse wedding and ordering Chinese food, though she humorously noted it might still turn into "a circus with unicorns."
The Joker: Folie à Deux star and Polansky met in December 2019 and announced their engagement in April. Gaga divulged in a Vogue interview that Polansky proposed after a day of rock climbing, US Weekly reported. Their romantic journey owes much to Gaga’s mother, Cynthia Germanotta, who first met Polansky through philanthropy and suggested he was perfect for Gaga.
Reflecting on her mom's advice, Gaga told Vogue, "My mom thought he was my future husband. I wasn't ready then, but I couldn't believe she found the perfect person for me."
Gaga and Polansky’s paths crossed at Napster cofounder Sean Parker’s 40th birthday party. Reflecting on that day, Gaga recalled, "I was eager to see him again after Mom said he’d be there. We talked for three amazing hours."
