Mickey Guyton's Pre-Show Ritual: Rosé and Tequila
Country music star Mickey Guyton, in her exclusive conversation with Us Weekly, reveals her unique pre-show routine involving a touch of rosé and a shot of tequila. At age 41, Guyton finds that enjoying some rosé helps her unwind before a performance, while a single shot of tequila energizes her and eases any anxiety. These rituals are complemented by a customary prayer with her band before taking the stage.
Guyton's backstage needs are simple: any cold rosé – be it canned or in a glass – suits her as long as it is chilled. Additionally, for the optimal dressing room atmosphere, she insists on pleasant lighting and a fragrant candle to counter the typically freezing backstage and dim lighting of arenas.
She wrapped up her headline tour with CMT and reminisced about an unforgettable incident during Brad Paisley's Crushin' It World Tour in 2015. Technical issues left her and her team without proper transportation, forcing her to do her makeup by hand. Despite arriving only minutes before her footage, Guyton's performance was a success, even under torrential rain.
Despite these challenges, performing live remains a passion, with her favorite track being "Better Than You Left Me," a song that never fails to connect with her audience. After her energetic performances, Guyton's down-to-earth nature emerges as she bypasses typical nightlife, favoring intimate gatherings in cozy lounges with free-flowing drinks. Although quintessentially a country artist, her after-show playlist comprises mainly nostalgic '90s hip-hop tracks from the likes of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur, contributing to a vibrant vibe.
