Olivia Munn and John Mulaney Welcome Daughter Via Surrogate

Hollywood actress Olivia Munn and comedian John Mulaney have joyfully announced the birth of their daughter, Mei June Mulaney, born via surrogate on September 14, 2024, The Independent reported. The couple, who previously welcomed a son named Malcolm, shared heartfelt messages on Instagram and photos of their family's new addition.

Munn expressed deep emotions about not carrying her daughter herself, grateful to the surrogate, whom she described as a real-life angel. She expressed immense pride for her "little plum," explaining that Mei, which means plum in Chinese, is also pronounced like May. Mulaney humorously noted in his post, "We stole so much stuff from the hospital. I love my little girl so much."

Significant challenges have marked the couple’s journey to this joyous moment. Earlier this year, Munn revealed that she faced an aggressive form of breast cancer, leading to four surgeries, including a double mastectomy and a partial hysterectomy. Thankfully, early detection played a crucial role in her fight against the disease. Additionally, Munn started on the breast cancer drug Arimidex in August.

Before her diagnosis, Munn had taken proactive steps regarding her fertility, freezing her eggs at various stages of her life. After her cancer diagnosis, Munn and Mulaney were delighted to learn that two viable embryos resulted from their efforts. This news brought enormous relief and joy, as it enabled them to pursue surrogacy.

Recounting her surrogacy experience in an interview with Vogue, Munn shared the difficulty of finding someone she could trust implicitly to carry her child. The process emphasized her gratitude for having options to expand her family despite such severe health battles.

Furthermore, the actress reminisced about the intimate summer wedding in New York, held shortly before the surrogacy journey, which solidified their commitment to one another. The couple originally began dating following Mulaney’s six-year marriage to Anna Marie Tendler.
