Rapper Lil Durk Arrested in Alleged Murder-for-Hire Plot Targeting Quando Rondo
Rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Devontay Banks, was arrested and charged in an alleged murder-for-hire scheme targeting fellow musician Quando Rondo, real name Tyquian Terrel Bowman, Page Six reported.
This development included the arrest of five other men alleged to be associated with Durk's hip-hop group Only the Family (OTF), who have been indicted on federal charges for their involvement in the same plot. According to reports, these activities were a retaliatory response to the 2020 murder of King Von, a close associate of Lil Durk, who was killed by Rondo's associate, Lul Timm, in Atlanta.
Lil Durk was apprehended in Miami and is currently detained at Broward County Jail in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, awaiting a court appearance. Official documents reveal the five men’s schemed action to eliminate Rondo in August 2022 for King Von's death motivation. These alleged conspirators, employing an OTF-linked credit card, facilitated their traveling arrangements by securing plane tickets and planning the attack with automotive rentals and accommodations.
As Rondo, who escaped the shooting without injury, along with his cousin Saviay’a Robinson (who tragically was shot to death), refueled at a gas station, the alleged attackers executed their plan in Los Angeles. This attack saw follow-through afterward to propositions around payment at a nearby dining spot. While Durk himself wasn't explicitly named in the indictment aside from his group’s mention, this case reignites past connectivity within Durk’s instances – including an unrelated 2019 shooting he faced legal proceedings over – wherein he formerly denied OTF functioning as a gang.
