Selena Gomez Shares Valuable Advice from a Respected Actress
Selena Gomez recently opened up about uplifting advice she received from a fellow actress. This revelation took place at the "2024 ELLE's Women in Hollywood" event held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles on November 19.
"I know this sounds silly, but someone once said, ‘Don't take yourself too seriously,’ " Gomez remarked to PEOPLE. She emphasized that this advice fosters empathy and compassion. "It lets you enter a film or a character with a deeper appreciation," she explained.
Gomez, who wore a sparkling Ralph Lauren suit, revealed, "I know it sounds weird, but it actually does work when you get to enjoy it and not overthink things." Selena also celebrated the event surrounded by industry figures, including her "Emilia Pérez" costars Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón.
The night featured many noted attendees, such as Cameron Diaz, Julianne Moore, Tilda Swinton, Demi Moore, and Saoirse Ronan. This ceremony acknowledged the achievements of women in the entertainment industry.
Earlier this month, Gomez discussed her experience of working alongside the legendary Meryl Streep on "Only Murders in the Building."The season three introduction of Streep left Gomez initially speechless due to the actress's presence and professionalism.
Gomez shared a touching anecdote about Streep’s actions on set. She recalled attempting to complete Streep’s scenes so the actress could take the next day off. Streep, however, insisted on staying to support the crew.
Walking back to her memories, Gomez said, "I’ll never forget her being barefoot, singing on set, just loving what she’s doing." She found Streep’s enthusiasm profoundly inspiring. "I want that spirit; I want to always love what I do and be there for people," Gomez concluded, highlighting her admiration.
