Ted Danson, 76, Finds 'Same Joy' in Acting as He Did in His 20s: 'Makes Me So Happy'
Ted Danson, at 76, continues to express his love for acting. At the Los Angeles premiere of "A Man on the Inside" on November 10, he stated, "I feel the same joy I did in my late twenties when I drove through the studio gate." This reflects his enduring passion for his craft.
Danson shares, "It makes me very happy, which is why I think I work a lot." He enjoys seeing "the guards, crew members, and actors" he encounters daily. He adds, "I'm not sure how good I am; it doesn't matter. It makes me so happy to be doing this."
Speaking with PEOPLE about his age and acting, Danson remarked on the joys of using his life experiences in his work. "One of my joys has been using my age and what I'm going through in life to explore that." He asks, "What is it like to be 76 and funny?" He finds immense joy in trying to be humorous.
Danson highlights the importance of demonstrating creativity at an older age. He says, "You can still do anything even at our age." He believes, "Don’t call it quits, don't wind down, keep going. The world needs you."
Danson also discussed the underlying messages in "A Man on the Inside." He expresses a hope that this project positively impacts viewers. "It's something that I want for myself," he shared.
Based on Maite Alberdi's 2020 documentary "The Mole Agent," this series depicts Charles (played by Danson), a retired individual turned amateur private investigator. Created by Michael Schur, "A Man on the Inside" is set to premiere on Netflix on November 21.
